Monthly Challenges
Welcome to the Heard-Thomas Family Monthly Challenge page! Each month, we come together as a family to tackle a fun, engaging challenge that helps us grow closer, learn something new, or give back to our communities.
Make a Summer Memory
June isn’t just the start of summer—it’s a chance to slow down and actually enjoy each other (even if it’s with a fan blowing full speed in the background).
This month’s challenge is simple: Make one meaningful memory with your family. Nothing fancy. Just something you’ll look back on and say, “Yeah, that was a good day.”
Pick at least one of the ideas below to help create a new summer memory:
Have a Family Game Night (No Phones Allowed)
Dust off the board games or teach the kids a classic card game. Bonus points if someone flips the board before the night ends.
Take a Sunset Walk or Drive
Find a quiet moment to enjoy the summer evening sky. It’s free, it’s peaceful, and nobody’s arguing over the remote.
Cook (or Grill) Together
Choose a family favorite recipe—or try something new—and make it together. Let everyone have a role, even if it’s just setting the table or sampling too much.
Recreate an Old Family Photo
Reach out to a family member and ask them to recall one of their favorite memories from a past family gathering. Collect these stories and consider sharing them in our next newsletter to inspire and uplift everyone.
Interview an Elder
Ask a grandparent or older relative to tell a story from their childhood. Record it or write it down. Those stories are gold.
